Each spelling/vocabulary unit runs for two weeks. During the first week of a unit students are assigned 12 words from their vocabulary book. Additionally, they are given 8 words that follow a specific language rule for a total of 20 words per unit. Students will have various homework assignments that focus on the spelling of the words. On Friday of the first week a spelling test is given on all 20 words.
During the second week the students will focus only on the 12 words from their vocabulary book. They will complete various homework assignments to help them better understand the parts of speech and meaning of each word. We will end the week with a vocabulary test on the 12 vocab words. (Spelling will still count on the vocabulary portion of the unit.)
