Language Arts

During the year, the students will focus on the following skills:  identifying and correctly using the eight parts of speech;  recognizing and correcting sentence fragments;  constructing compound sentences;  diagramming simple sentences to analyze structure;  and correctly using periods, question marks, exclamation marks, commas, colons, semi-coloms, and quotation marks.  In Composition, students continue to work on developing clearly written paragraphs which demonstrate proper sequencing and organization of ideas.
