In addition to reviewing all previously learned skills, Grade 8 is being introduced to the following: infinitives, participles, and gerunds; indirect quotation marks; and the use of diagrams to analyze compound and complex sentences. In Composition, they are studing three paragraph essays using comparison and contrast, cause and effect, and persuasive techniques.
In Literature, students are exploring poetry, analyzing various genres and purposes of writing, and relating literary experiences to personal experiences. They are currently reading Nothing But The Truth by Avi.
